Below is the map of the Willowbrok eruv. The eruv is checked every Friday before shabbos. (If the lines do not appear, then try viewing it in Internet Explorer.)
Eruv of Willowbrook As Of Chanukah, 5778
Notes:
- The effect of the Eruv is to make each individual who dwells within its boundaries a part owner of the enclosed area for certain Halachic purposes. It thus makes the entire enclosed area equivalent to one’s own property. Consequently, those activities, and only those activities, which, on Shabbos, are permissible in private property, are now permissible within the Eruv-enclosed area.
- This material is meant to describe where one can remain within the Eruv while walking on the streets that constitute the boundary of the Eruv. Although excellent maps are available online, one must not assume the whole boundary street is within the Eruv.
- Word descriptions are used together with geographic directions, i.e., N(orth), S(outh), E(ast) and W(est), in order to better enable practical use for all.
Crossing I278, above (North of) I278 on Woolley Avenue to Victory Blvd
The entire overpass crossing I278, roadbed and sidewalks, is within the Eruv. However, if one is continuing on (N) toward Victory Boulevard, only the right (E) sidewalk of Woolley Ave is within the Eruv. This segment ends at the right-near (SE) corner of Woolley Avenue and Victory Boulevard (where a mailbox is) and continues to the right (E) on Victory Boulevard to Sheraden Avenue (SE corner). Over this segment, only the near (S) sidewalk of Victory Boulevard is within the Eruv. The Eruv extends (S) along Sheraden Ave from the SE corner of Sheraden Ave and Victory Boulevard back toward North Gannon Ave. When walking from Victory Boulevard toward the highway (S) on Sheraden Ave, only the right (W) sidewalk is within the Eruv. The Eruv continues along the fence surrounding the Staten Island Fun Park and extends eastbound to Slosson Avenue.
Slosson Avenue
The Eruv extends from the upper (NW) corner of Slosson Avenue (Entrance to SIE – Eastbound) and continues upward (N) toward the overpass of SIE- Eastbound and continues around the perimeter of that segment heading back (S) to the near sidewalk (E) of Slosson Avenue extending into Todt Hill Road. Do not walk on the (E) sidewalk — only walk in the street or (W) sidewalk.
Todt Hill Road
The Eruv extends (S) on Todt Hill Road to the lower right (SE) corner of Ocean Terrace (do NOT walk on the (E) sidewalk — only walk in the street or (W) sidewalk) and continues (W) on Ocean Terrace (only walk in the street) to the lower right (SE) corner of Manor Road.
Manor Road
The Eruv extends (S) on Manor Road. Do NOT walk on the (E) sidewalk — only walk in the street or (W) sidewalk. At the fork in the road by the JCC Camp, you will be within the Eruv when walking within the fork crossing over to Brielle Avenue. Only walk in the street or (N) sidewalk.
Brielle Ave
The Eruv extends (W) from the lower left (SW) corner of the intersection of Manor Road and Brielle Ave to Walcott Ave at the lower left (SW) corner of the intersection of Walcott and Brielle. Over this segment, the gutter and the near (N) sidewalk are within the Eruv.
Walcott Avenue
The Eruv extends from the (SW) corner of the intersection of Walcott and Brielle (W) along Brielle Ave to the near (E) sidewalk of Forest Hill Road behind (S of) the houses on Walcott Ave. When walking on Walcott Ave towards Forest Hill Road (W) along the fence of the NYC Farm Colony the gutter and right (N) side of Walcott Ave are within the Eruv. As you approach Forest Hill Road past the Farm Colony (walking W), the houses on the left (S) side of the street and all of Walcott Ave are within the Eruv.
Below (S of) Walcott Avenue
The Eruv extends from the (E) sidewalk of Forest Hill Road behind (S of) the houses on Walcott Ave S to the near (NE) corner of the intersection of Steers Street and Forest Hill Road. Along this segment the (E) sidewalk of Forest Hill Road is within the Eruv. The Eruv then extends from the (NE) corner of the intersection of Steers Street and Forest Hill Road along Steers Street (E) to the fence of the Farm Colony on Colonial Ave. Over this segment of Steers Street, the gutter and right (S) sidewalk are within the Eruv. The Eruv continues (S) along the fence of the Farm Colony on Colonial Ave to past Fields Street. Over this segment, all of Colonial Avenue is within the Eruv. The Eruv continues back (W) to Forest Hill Road (S) of Fields Street via backyards, allowing all of Fields Street to be within the Eruv. The Eruv then extends up (N) Forest Hill Road from behind (S of) the houses on Fields Street to the near (SE) corner of the intersection of Forest Hill Road and Walcott Ave. Over this segment, only the right (E) sidewalk of Forest Hill Road is within the Eruv.

The Eruv is extended from the SE corner of the intersection of Forest Hill Road and Walcott Ave across Forest Hill Road, then up (N) to the Young Israel Park, then around the back of the park back to Forest Hill Road, then to the near (SW) corner of the intersection of Willowbrook Road and Forest Hill Road, encompassing this entire stretch of Forest Hill Road – sidewalks, gutter and play area – within the Eruv.
Willowbrook Road NW to South Gannon Avenue
The Eruv extends from the SW corner of the intersection of Willowbrook Road and Forest Hill Road behind Senaca Loop to the far (SW) corner of the intersection of Westwood Ave and Willowbrook Road. Over this segment, all of Willowbrook Road, including Senaca Loop, is within the Eruv. The Eruv continues W on Westwood through private property S of (and parallel to) Dreyer Ave to Canterbury Ave, then N on Canterbury Ave until just past (N of) Darcey Ave. On this limited stretch of Canterbury Ave, only the right (E) sidewalk is within the Eruv, and one cannot continue on Canterbury Ave towards South Gannon Ave past Darcey Ave within the Eruv. The Eruv turns up and right (NE) past the W end of Darcey Ave until it is fixed at the highway fence at South Gannon Ave slightly to the left (W) of where Darcey Ave intersects with South Gannon Ave. Therefore, Darcey Ave is fully within the Eruv. The Eruv continues to the right (E) along the highway fence along South Gannon Ave until the lower (S) end of the Woolley Ave overpass at the near (NW) corner of the intersection of Woolley Ave and South Gannon Ave. Along this segment of South Gannon Ave, the gutter and sidewalk are within the Eruv. This completes the description of the boundary of the Willowbrook Eruv.
